I created a Gmail account just to write this review, which should tell you how strongly I feel—because I don’t usually bother with things like this, but I couldn't leave a review with a cox.net email. I’m not interested in having a conversation about it. I just want it known. Let me start by saying I have a lot of respect for Dr. Rode. I’ve been coming to Norterra Dental for years, and I've seen a few of the other doctors, all of whom have been polite, professional, and competent. Normally, this is a five-star office. However, my recent experience has me questioning whether I’ll continue coming back. If it weren’t for the solid history I have with this place, I’d already be gone. That said, going forward, I will absolutely be requesting someone other than Dr. Breeding. To avoid awkwardness—because, yes, I’d still like to come here—I used a different name for this review. Call it self-preservation. I’m not interested in creating drama. I just want to make sure someone’s paying attention. Now, about that appointment. Everything started off as it always does: staff was upbeat, kind, and efficient. The assistants were friendly and clearly knew what they were doing. Then Dr. Breeding walked in. I’m not going to detail every frustrating minute of the visit. I’ll keep it brief: this young woman came in with an attitude, acted like questions were a personal attack, and had the bedside manner of a brick wall. I tried giving her the benefit of the doubt—maybe she was having a bad day. I even wondered if I was just being overly sensitive. But that theory was quickly shut down once I heard how she spoke to her own staff. Her tone was disrespectful, condescending, and frankly, unprofessional. The whole interaction felt like she was trying to steamroll me into agreeing with whatever she had in mind without offering a clear explanation. I'm not some passive idiot—I’ve been around long enough to know when someone’s dodging questions and talking in circles. When I declined the treatment she was aggressively pushing (because she couldn't or wouldn't answer my concerns), I left with just my routine cleaning done—and zero trust in her judgment. Dr. Breeding might be new, and maybe this job isn’t quite what she expected, but if you choose to work in healthcare—especially in a patient-facing role—you need to be able to communicate with people without acting like it's beneath you. Dr. Rode has always taken the time to explain things to me. Never rushed, never rude. That’s the standard I expect. If Dr. Breeding thinks the white coat gives her the final word without needing to justify it, she’s mistaken. That may work with someone else, but not with me. To the rest of the Norterra team: you’re still five stars in my book. Just do yourselves—and your patients—a favor and keep an eye on this one. You’ve worked hard to build a solid reputation. Don’t let one person start to unravel it.

Check your insurance before letting them perform any services!!!! They will give you a quote without contacting your insurance and you will be responsible for the difference. I was talked into an upgrade that I was led to believe was covered under my insurance. I paid my portion at the time of service and a month later was presented with a bill for $500 additional. I called and inquired about the additional, they told me that my insurance had refused to pay. I then called my insurance, who told me that the upgrade wasn't covered under the plan. I believe they should have known this prior to offering me the quote (since they require your insurance information prior to any visit). Beware of the upsell, most of the standard options are covered by insurance, it's the upgrades that will cost you the customer. Update: I did attempt to call and work out a possible discount and was only offered a payment plan. I would recommend that they be more clear on the billing side and if a similar situation arise that they reach out and discuss instead of processing a bill. I would like to add that the service from the dentist and nurses was very good. They were very considerate with my pain tolerance(needed a root canal). Their location is exceptional. Very clean and bright.

Dr Rode is the MOST patient, knowledgeable and kind Dentist I have ever seen in my 60 years! He always fits me in when I have any type of an emergency and spends time with me, so I can explain all my needs. I never feel rushed and he listens so he can come up with a plan of action, not just trying to talk me into services I do not need. Absolutely love his staff, and the office is pleasant, welcoming, and very clean. I just can’t say enough about this Dental practice.

What is the Mouth-Body Connection® ?

The Mouth-Body Connection® refers to the link between oral health and overall health, and the role that the harmful bacteria and inflammation in our mouths play in chronic, systemic disease. That’s why it’s time we talked about more than your teeth. Our office prioritizes your overall health as it relates to your oral health. When we care for your smile we’re also looking out for your entire self.
